About us
My passion for business actually began at school, studying for my O Levels (!!), but it was always grounded too in a passion for the environment and an 'ethical life' which was inspired by precious times as a child spent with my dad.  As such, my business role models were also driven by their own passions for 'doing business differently', ensuring that 'making a profit' was always grounded in 'making a difference' to both people and the planet.

My studies continued into college and university, but I always felt that my real education was on the 'shop floor' of businesses... working across sectors such as engineering, manufacturing, construction and transport.  Continuing into the service sector, within hospitality and tourism, property management, education and, much later, within voluntary organisations, I gained additional insight across a broad range of functions, from 'personnel' (now HR) to sales (and marketing), from finance (and accounting) to the then relative obscurity of what we now call 'IT'.

Even in those early years, I wanted to learn and to 'know', to explore and to understand.  I wanted to see how the businesses really ran and to see if and how they could run better... if it were possible to be a better business for everyone: the employer and their employees, for the customers or clients, and for our community... for our world.  I suspect I was a bit of a pest at times - an annoying girl asking lots of questions... and having a few opinions!! - but good managers recognised the real underlying passion for business and were happy to support me in my studies, and ultimately in 'returning my learning' to the workplace.

After finishing my business degree, I wanted to develop the skills to apply what I'd learnt... particularly supporting people on their own journeys, so I embarked on a masters' degree in coaching and mentoring, and later a postgraduate diploma in lecturing.  I set up my own coaching and consultancy practice, working with a plethora of clients across sectors and throughout the region, and taught alongside this as a university lecturer on range of programmes, from the HND to MBA.  I also indulged my passion for research, and in particular the essential role for me of ethics, and social and environmental responsibility in business.

In achieving my dreams - many aspects of which I'm still passionately working on - I love reading books that inspire me, listening to music that transports me, and talking to people that remind me what incredible challenges can be overcome and what amazing things are truly possible in this world when we come together.  I have special people in my life that I love very much and relish spending time with, and special places I can't wait to be in, not least my busy craft room where I can delve into my myriad projects, and our evolving garden where I can spend hours completely lost in hard work and happy thoughts.
