Our clients...
We have worked with a range of clients on a whole plethora of projects, but here are examples of the work that we do.  Please note that names and specific details have been changed as we value the confidentiality of our clients.

Laura was in her early 50s and recently divorced, with her youngest son now at university and her older children both working away too. She always had a passion for crafting, although only as a hobby, but having recently joined a local craft group, many of whom were selling work here and there, she wondered if it was something she could do. She initially began working with her coach on developing a basic gallery-style website and putting together a small marketing plan, but recently began to consider the possibility of moving on from her part-time job in a GP practice to produce and sell more of her crafts, and also run crafting workshops for over-50s in the community.

Since turning thirty, Matt had been questioning his decision to work in manufacturing sales, and although it was a good living and there was career potential, he just didn’t ‘feel it’ anymore. Having been a competitive cyclist since childhood, he had been thinking about an idea to teach other people to ride, so he attended a course on business planning to explore it. Working with his coach, he then began to focus on a plan to teach bike-riding to improve young people’s health and wellbeing, particularly working with kids who were struggling at school or at home. He developed his own confidence and passion to the point where he successfully bid for lottery funding to begin.

Doug was 45 when his dad had a heart attack and decided it was time to pass the family business – a successful small garage – on to his son. Along with his wife Sue as manager, they did well for a few years, particularly with a loyal customer base for MOTs and servicing.  But having a real passion for performance cars and knowing there were no specialist garages nearby, they saw an opportunity.  After attending a course on it, they worked with their coach to draft a proper business plan, exploring how they could maintain their current business, but use part of the space to focus on and attract new customers for performance tuning and bodywork modifications.

For nearly forty years, Maureen shared her life and her floristry business with her husband Harry, a kind, larger-than-life character; but when he passed away just before his 70th birthday, she was devastated.  She carried on alone at first – the business gave her something to focus on – but she started to struggle, particularly dealing with stock and making deliveries, as she didn’t like driving.  Working with her coach, she explored options for getting some help and finally put an advert out locally for a part-time assistant and delivery driver, which found its way to Chris, a single dad, who actually knew Harry from the rugby club and works around his daughters' school day.

Leo was admittedly getting to the end of his tether with his business.  He had been an electrician since school, working initially for a local company and then subcontracting for a national organisation – although technically self-employed he never saw himself as a business owner.  It was going well until the organisation was taken over and his work ended, meaning that with no other clients he needed to find some and didn’t know where to start.  Working with his coach, he explored a range of opportunities within the sector, drafting comprehensive marketing and social media plans to connect with potential clients, including both other businesses and homeowners.

Aliyah remembered as a teenager watching her dad work long hours and seeming really stressed running his own business, and so when, at 34, she was made redundant, being self-employed was the last thing on her mind.  But after a few months of job-hunting and several more unhappy in one job and another, her boyfriend suggested she consider taking her passion for yoga to the next level - when she talked to her dad, he admitted it was hard work but the best decision he ever made.  Working with her coach, she explored a range of options for funding her new business, including an unexpected investment from her family and a small bank loan for essential equipment.

The real inspiration in Zara’s childhood was her gran, a teacher and passionate advocate for a range of causes, including banning animal testing and nuclear disarmament… she even spent two years protesting at a US army base!  At university, Zara trained for a career in construction, until sadly her gran passed away and, at the age of 20, she began to question her career path.  Working with her coach, she explored the impact of her strong ethical beliefs on ideas for self-employment beyond university; later with her friend Seb, as they began working together to develop plans for a new architectural design practice using environmentally-friendly building materials.

Peter was 60 and about to retire from his successful business supplying logistics equipment to the military, in which he had previously served.  Having travelled the world extensively through both and whilst on leave, he had engaged avidly in all the cultures he encountered and was now a bit of a self-confessed ‘foodie’.  Working with his coach, he considered potential to redevelop his semi-rural business premises to become a restaurant, including a broad eclectic menu using ingredients sourced from contacts made during his travels, and particularly valuing the role of his business in supporting rural communities across the globe both via sourcing and philanthropy.
